Before September 11th, the Euro, Facebook and iPhones there was the world in Gotham. These photographs, originally shot in 1997 on the streets of New York City as feature photographs to appear in New York Magazine’s Gotham section, are a time capsule of 1990’s street life. Looking back only 15 years, we see a simpler time: A couple discussing their future together while a street vendor looks on, a woman views her x-ray on the street and a man shields the lighting of his cigarette behind his tall friend. These moments lure us in and allow us to remember what life was like… back then.
