Curran Hatleberg The Crowded Edge and Dogwood

The compositions in these photos emphasize that if you’d just blinked and taken a shot one second earlier or later, you would have missed it, that crucial moment that elevates a scene within the imagination. These scene’s do not simply illustrate ‘what is happening’ or offer a resolution or cause to the drama each person is moved by. Instead they offer the impetus of the drama (whether inter-personal or internal). Each person’s face and body language holds it’s own entirely unique world of interest, one that is still unfolding. We don’t yet know where their thoughts will land, or where they will move next. These are moments still becoming, and they are more interesting because of it.
