Clémentine Schneidermann The Drunken Boat

The drunken boat is a serie of pictures taken in Newport, South Wales over a period of two years from 2013 until 2015. It is an invitation to discover a hidden beauty in a post-industrial town. Inspired by Arthur Rimbaud’s poem “Le bateau ivre”, which translates as ‘the drunken boat’, I find a direct analogy, “where the night smells of alcohol” and the people sway about like boats in choppy waters.
